The Walt Disney World Monogram

There are very few examples of theme park design that have been executed as perfectly as Walt Disney World's Main Street USA (nope, I'm not afraid to truck out the superlatives). The sounds, smells, facades and characters blend seamlessly together to create the happiest of environments.

All romanticism aside, Main Street USA is riddled with some of the most successful design elements in Magic Kingdom, especially in terms of typography. The Walt Disney World monogram is a big favorite:
The mark can be found gracing Main Street's vehicles, the sweeping staircase on the train station, or my favorite: the locomotives of the Walt Disney World Railroad.

I wanted a poster to showcase the monogram and its association with the railroad. I came up with a  two-color design featuring a sophisticated approach to the Sanborn Map style that's so synonymous with the turn-of-the-century aesthetic.
The design would translate nicely as a 11"x17" poster, and could look stellar stamped in gold foil! The print would make for a great addition in the Main Street Cinema gallery:
That's all for now, but I've got a few exciting projects in the wings that have been in the works for a while now. Stay tuned...
